Academic Focus and Engagement
The Academic Focus and Engagement Survey is designed to provide an overview of the academic experiences of students, specifically measuring their levels of engagement within a school. The survey has 8x questions that looks at "academic concentration" and 5x questions that examine elements of "engagement and focus.

What this survey measures
This survey is structured around 3 scales.
Overall Scale
This scale measures a student's holistic approach to learning combining two critical dimensions: their ability to concentrate and their intrinsic motivation. It assesses both the behavioural aspects of focus, such as managing distractions and completing work and the psychological aspects of engagement including; enthusiasm, curiosity, and active participation.
Sub-scales
This scale measures a student's ability to maintain focus and manage distractions in an academic setting. It assesses how effectively a student sustains attention to complete learning activities. A higher score indicates a greater capacity for concentration and task completion, while a lower score suggests challenges with focus, potentially due to internal or external distractions and disengagement.
This scale measures a student's intrinsic motivation and active involvement in their academic life. It assesses their enthusiasm for learning, eagerness to participate, and sustained interest in class-related topics, both inside and outside the classroom. A higher score indicates strong academic engagement and a deep connection to learning, while a lower score may suggest reduced motivation or interest.
