Schools can use this survey to encourage parents and carers to share their experiences of their child's school. These are the same questions used as part of the Ofsted Parent View.
Introduction
We want to ask you some questions to help us understand more about your views towards your child's school, including things like how happy your child is at the school and how the school manages bullying or challenging behaviour. If you have more than one child at the school, please answer on behalf of one child. We will use your answers to help us improve so please be as honest as possible. Thank you!
What this survey measures
This survey is structured around 6 scales.
Overall Scale
The Parental Satisfaction Index provides a single, holistic measure of a parent's overall satisfaction with school. By combining feedback on topics like academic quality, student wellbeing and communication, this score allows you to quickly gauge the school's health and identify key areas for improvement. This powerful tool offers a valuable starting point for understanding parental sentiment and driving positive change.
Sub-scales
This subscale measures a parent's perception of their child's overall emotional and physical safety at school. It assesses whether a child feels secure, happy and well-supported, while also evaluating how effectively the school handles critical issues like bullying. The scores indicates some measure of how successfully the school fosters a safe and nurturing environment.
This subscale gauges the effectiveness of the relationship between the school and parents. It measures how well the school informs parents about their child's academic progress and curriculum, as well as its responsiveness and effectiveness in addressing parental concerns. A high score could suggest a strong and transparent partnership between the school and home.
This subscale evaluates a parent's view of the school's core academic mission and its standards for behaviour and learning. It measures whether parents believe the school maintains high expectations, ensures pupils are well-behaved and ultimately contributes to their child's academic success. The results reflect confidence in the school’s educational leadership and overall quality.
This subscale focuses on the school's role in a student's holistic growth beyond the classroom. It measures parental satisfaction with the variety of subjects, the availability of clubs and activities and the school's commitment to supporting a child's broader personal development. A strong score in this area indicates the school is seen as providing a rich and well-rounded educational experience.
