Support Staff Working Environment Scale
Working Conditions Survey for Support Staff
Introduction

Dear Colleagues,

Providing the best possible working environment for both our teachers and support staff is vital to the collective success of our schools at Swale Academies Trust. Research substantiates that the working conditions of educational staff have a substantial impact on job satisfaction, motivation, and retention (Kraft & Papay, 2014; Weston et al, 2021).

To extend our understanding beyond teaching roles, we are conducting this adapted survey, originally developed by academics at UCL. While the original was the first peer-reviewed survey designed for teachers, this version aims to gather equally actionable data to enhance working conditions for support staff within our schools.

Your anonymous responses will deliver crucial insights into the efficacy and opportunities in your school's policies, leadership, and daily operations. The feedback you provide will be instrumental in guiding our efforts to offer improved support and make your school a more fulfilling place to work.

Your input is invaluable for effecting positive change across both your school and the wider Trust. Please dedicate approximately 10 minutes to share your views candidly and openly.

Thank you for your participation.
