Perceived Stress Scale - Children
The PSS-C is helpful for the early identification of children at risk of anxiety/stress. This is important because stress appears to result in increased vulnerability for poorer school outcomes and reduced home functional performance, as well as resulting in problems with overall health, mental health and body weight. An effective and efficient assessment for early identification of anxiety/stress in children assists in the development of appropriate interventions.

What this survey measures
This survey is structured around 3 scales.
Overall Scale
This scale is a helpful tool for understanding how a pupil in your school, year or class might be experiencing signs of stress. Although this is not a diagnostic test it can give you a clear picture of your pupils perceived stress levels. A higher score indicates a higher level of perceived stress. This makes it a valuable way to track a pupil's progress and see what king of impact any interventions you have put in place may be having. As we learn more about the long term effects of stress on a child's academic success and overall wellbeing, this can be a powerful way to identify potential issues early on.
Sub-scales
Stressors will reflect elements that are leading to a child's experience of stress, the higher the score indicates that the pupil is feeling more of these stressors.
This area and score will highlight the protective factors that are not sufficiently present in a pupils life, these are things that would normally help a child cope with stres but aren't currently present. The higher the score the fewer protective factors are present to help them to manage stress.
