What this survey measures

This survey is structured around 4 scales.

Overall Scale

Self esteem
Overall20200

This scale gives a snapshot of how good or bad a child or young person feels about themselves right now. Think of it like taking their emotional temperature: it tells us if they're feeling confident and capable (a high reading) or anxious and doubtful (a low reading) at this particular time.

Sub-scales

Performance self-esteem
735

This sub-scale focuses on the young person's temporary feelings of competence and capability, especially in intellectual or achievement-related tasks. It assesses whether they currently feel smart, capable and successful, or if they are feeling frustrated, confused, or struggling with their performance and abilities right now.

Social Self-esteem
735

This sub-scale gauges how good a young person feels about their social standing and relationships in the moment. It looks at their concerns about what others think of them, whether they feel respected and if they are worried about making a poor impression or looking foolish. It's essentially their immediate sense of belonging and social acceptance.

Appearance self-esteem
630

This sub-scale captures the young person's current level of satisfaction with their physical appearance. It assesses immediate feelings about their body image, weight and overall attractiveness. It addresses whether they feel pleased and confident about how they look right now or if they are feeling self-conscious or unattractive.
