Diversity and Inclusion
This survey goes beyond grades to look at the "emotional heart" of your school, helping you see if pupils feel they truly belong or if they are just "fitting in" to get by. It highlights whether pupils see themselves reflected in what they learn and uncovers hidden issues, like subtle bullying or unfair language, that staff might not always notice. By checking if students actually trust the adults to fix problems, this survey helps you break down "silence cultures" and ensures that when students speak up, they know it will lead to real, positive change.

What this survey measures
This survey is structured around 6 scales.
Overall Scale
Overall diversity and inclusion score is about ensuring that our pupils feel comfortable in their surroundings regardless of their background or identity. It also helps to demonstrate that our school is a place of equality and safety. The score combines the following areas of Belonging and Culture, Representation, Safety and Peer Relationships and Support Systems, the higher the score the better.
Sub-scales
This section measures how much pupils feel like they are a true part of the school community. It looks at whether the school environment is welcoming and if pupils feel they can be their authentic selves without needing to hide their identity to fit in. High scores usually correlate with better pupil engagement, higher attendance, and overall mental wellbeing.
This subscale checks if pupils see their own identities reflected in what they learn. It explores whether the curriculum, the library, and the staff body represent the diversity of today's modern world. Good representation ensures that all pupils feel that academic achievement and success are ""for people like them.""
This section focuses on the ""unwritten rules"" of the playground and corridors. It measures whether pupils feel safe from discrimination and identifies the presence of subtle everyday comments, that might often go unnoticed by staff. Identifying these patterns helps the school target its anti-bullying strategies and tailor Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion training.
This measures how much confidence pupils have in adults to fix problems. It assesses their knowledge of how to report issues and whether they believe the school will take effective action if they experience unfairness. Low scores suggest a ""silence culture"" where pupils don't report issues because they don't believe anything will change
Additional Measures
This area gives pupils the opportunity to make suggestions for improvements and share any experiences they have had or witnessed.
